Shattered; 2014

Shattered is a non-traditional, large-scale window installation using a familiar sticky craft material, hot glue. By using the hot glue gun purely as a drawing tool directly on to the glass, long, fluid strokes and thick layered marks of glue transform in to a web of cracks that is both alarming and captivating. The convincing illusion of severely smashed windows halts a shocked audience, and then continues to invite closer examination. Shattered presents a compelling message about expectation, both visual and social. And like magic, it creates entertainment and wonder through the jarring overlap of truth and fiction.
