The 2008 Candidate

I'm a 60 year old African American artist inspired by historic moments after the presidential nomination of Barack Obama in 2008. I created my own iconic Warhol style campaign poster for my house which later became an installation series. Three failed attempts were recycled into a large collage portrait that unexpectedly looked like Barack Obama morphed with Abraham Lincoln. The piece became a focal point of the series. The 28 Original mixed media works were created with recycled materials in 48 hours. Candidate Obama is represented as every African American man from every era of American history. The 28 works are sized as follows: 1 - 57” x 39”, 9 - 24”square, 5 - 16.5”square, 11 - 15.5”square, 2 - 14.5”square. Installed Salon Style on one wall requires 25’w x 12’h The installation can be adjusted to fit parameters of the venue. A document with the entire story of the works with individual descriptive details is available to interested venues. See my PAST WORK for details.
