"Antepenultimate" is a term meaning the 3rd from the end. In other words, something or someone in the antepenultimate position is likely to be unnoticed sort of like Dec. 29th is an ordinary day as the year winds down. This series of photographs provides high quality portraits of a variety of individuals who might be living in an antepenultimate position, the homeless. These individuals were selected because they are ordinarily not noticed; people tend to walk or drive right by them, yet they are among the least of our brethren and deserving of our care. Their cause is no longer a popular one, nor is their individuality of high interest. These portraits provide an extraordinary perspective on the seemingly ordinary humanness of individuals while raising awareness to the unique and precarious situation in which they live. Human complexity lies behind the label of homeless. The individual should always come before the label. Always.
