Italian sculptor Michele Ciribifera has developed a career of graceful abstract imagery on both a more intimate and monumental scale. The group of works on display exemplifies the former category. The sculptures are part of the artist's ondAnomala series each of which represent themselves as a group of harmonious flowing marks that are stimulated by man's hand and ripple towards specific lines of tension. Emulating physical movements of actual waves across the surface of still water, the repetitive elements of each work can move but also suggest motion in time and space. Ciribifera articulates his ideas for the series: The ondAnomala—rogue wave—is one of the possible manifestations of nature's mysteries, suspended between science and chances of chaos. Our existence may be described as a perpetual motion wave; Buddha declared that every individual's life is just waves that are born and then dispersed into the universe. Of all that immensity the artist recuperates the lyrical aspect, breaths of life that let the matter through, as if the metals could turn into man's heartstrings.
