Brothers in Arms

I created this piece to honor the ordinary heroes of the Civil War. Men who came from humble homes and left the families they loved to fight one another for a cause they believed in. Passionate about American history and drawn to the human face, my goal as an artist is to capture the human spirit on canvas for the viewer to ponder. As one looks into each pair of eyes and gazes upon each expressive face, for a moment in time, the man’s spirit lingers. We see pride, vulnerability, apprehension, courage, and perhaps even fear. Each face has a story to tell; a story that transcends time. But whether Black or White, North or South, they share a common, human bond. They are Brothers in Arms.
