Persistence Too

I have a love for visual fun and inter-active pieces. ArtPrize is about bringing art to everybody; and this is one way to make everybody the inter-active artist. This piece plays with persistence of vision and how our eye-brain connection makes patterns from motion. "Persistence Too" is a hands-on laser "spirograph" that will allow the viewer to play with the randomness of a spinning laser dot and create an amazing array of visual patterns. It should inspire curiosity and creativity for young and old alike. That is the "science" of the piece, the Art is in the form of the structure; graceful, thin, and very minimalistic. The support structure for the laser and motor arrangement is hand carved wood in the form of a partial Spirograph pattern. The frame is formed with flowing curves to represent a sweep of light. The minimal structure was designed very carefully to hold, and hide, the science. The piece moves with the slightest touch. Structure and form flow very tightly in this piece.
