"Life Emergent"

Ward Powers's avatar Ward Powers

As the initial impulse of creation emerges, it takes the form of opposing yet mutually attracted opposites. This dynamic expresses itself in the spiral. From the microscopic strand of DNA to the unfathomable immensity of the universe, the spiral sustains our perception of form in each moment of time and space. As the opposing opposites dance in whirling attraction to one another, the chasm created contains all of time, space and matter. This is where all perception, memory, history and understanding exist in the ordinary state of awareness. However … there is another state of consciousness. Seen by the unblinking "third" eye. "Life Emergent" is a wood sculpting hollowed out of a quarter-ton trunk of Blue Spruce harvested from virgin Michigan woodlands. The work offers an inspiring meditation on the mystery of life within the universe of opposites...and beyond..
