The Soul of Man

David Kostreva's avatar David Kostreva

"The Soul of Man" represents the universal commonality of all humankind. We all come into this world with a soul that will live forever. For many, their souls soar to the grandest of purpose where all mankind is touched by their soul. For others, it seems that they have lost their very soul in their selfishness, greed and lack of compassion for their fellow man. Whatever path we chose to follow, our souls will live forever and we will reap what we sow. The cast iron cobbler's last in the middle has both the foot of a man and a women representing the soul of man. The steel discs represent unending circles therefore eternity. All surfaces of the piece have been etched with a plasma torch to represent the distinctiveness of each person. We are all etched by relationships, circumstances and decisions.
