Winds of Time

How do we cope with the winds of change? Wind farms have been transforming the skyline of Michigan recently. Rural areas still encompass expansive vistas of farmland, sectioned into fields and dotted with barns. Now, wind turbines soar above it all, converting the wind to mechanical energy. The universal question of man versus nature is at the forefront. Wind power is green, but turbines can be seen as unnaturally large, imposing giants. Ironically, these massive turbines are being erected in an effort to reduce the impact of humans on the Earth. In the mid-1800s, the Hudson River School painters celebrated the vast nation of America with a sense of awe for its majestic natural resources and a feeling of optimism for the huge potential it held. I attempt to show a similar relationship in this modern landscape.
