A Batch of Flowers

Julie Schaefer's avatar Julie Schaefer

This composition is a preliminary outline. The petals, pistil, border and background are designed from my original artwork printed onto fabric which I then creatively crafted each aspect. The flower petal frames are formed from wire providing strength, dimension and then the unique fabric is overlaid with a hand stitched finish. Twelve 3"x3" canvases create the configuration of the stem and leaves. The twelve 4''x4" canvases simulate the flower pot. The canvases are painted to reflect the calendar year birthstones and selected calendar year flowers. The above elements are fastened to the framework, which is layered in a mélange of materials, machine and artistically fabricated. The final work of art symbolizes my heartfelt passion and expression of a flower in bloom. I hope you see it, too!
