Rain Song

Nicholas James Thomasma's avatar Nicholas James Thomasma

Rain Song was written during the drought of 2012. It hadn't rained in nearly a month and it was one of those days where the sky was dark and the wind was light and you could feel the moisture swelling up in the air. The crickets were chirping, the wind chimes were singing, and as evening drew nearer the lightning bugs began to dance and glow throughout the neighborhood. I was sitting on my porch just begging mother nature to give in. I was convinced that "any minute now the rain will come down." The song really came to life during the 100 year flood in the Spring of 2013. With so much rain and so many people needing a release, the song rose in intensity during live performances. With the help and vision of producer Greg Baxter, we decided to record the song for my ArtPrize entry.
