I am an amateur astrophotographer, the images featured in my DEEPSKY artprize exhibit were shot from my tiny back yard observatory in Fremont Michigan using a specialized telescope mounted CCD camera photographing astronomical objects. Nebulae and galaxies that are thousands to many millions of light years from our Earth. Their light we see today from these objects in some cases commenced it’s journey before man walked our planet. The DEEPSKY exhibit features The Heart Nebula IC1805, an emission nebula which lies 7500 light years from us in the constellation Cassiopeia. The Horsehead and Flame Nebulae, also both emission nebulae which lie approximately 1500 light years from us in the constellation Orion. Bode’s Galaxy M81, a grand design spiral galaxy which lies approximately 12 million light years from us in the constellation of Ursa Major.
