Raised Voices Changing the World

My 2013 Artprize entry is mural consisting of portraits of 12 young women from countries where education is either extremely limited or prohibited entirely. Nine of these girls' stories of perseverance and their determination to learn despite adversity are told in a documentary film entitled " Girl Rising" by 10 x 10 and Vulcan Productions. I have permission to use their images to create this mural with chalk on chalkboard in three large sections. Underneath each section are columns listing these girls' declarations in different languages; I have the right to... learn, sing, go to school, dance, dream etc... These powerful declarations are what strengthen their determination and keep their dreams rising. To learn more about how you can help the 77 million girls from around the world who dream of going to school visit: girlrising.com
