The creative and formal processes I employ makes up the content of my work. I construct my art as a cartographer might construct her maps. I liken my daily travels in my environment to the mental travels of my mind. Broad ideas of journey fuel my creative processes. There is a sense of discovery built into both actual travel and into my creative process. I enjoy this continued sense of unfolding. My visual explorations evolve through my mapping or plotting both real and imagined journeys. Topographical landscape-like perspectives figure prominently into understanding the types of spaces I explore within my work. I typically employ formal elements like line, texture and volume to realize the abstractions. The construction of a weaving linear threads and manipulating the plain of the textile into relief like structures suits my urges to both navigate and create. I am captivated that weaving is a combination of linear two-dimensionality and volumetric three-dimensionality.
