"Disciples of the Spectacle" is a series of ceramic figures which are preached on top of wooden benches of varying height and size. This specific insulation is designed to switch the viewers and art works roles, where the pieces become the specters and the viewers the viewed. My work uses the figure as a point of departure in order to explain my internal struggle to find a place outside of my own thoughts where my mind is no longer engaged with my reality. The abstraction of the figure is meant to evoke subtle elements of the human body with out being specifically figurative- meaning the work exploits physical posture, gesture and texture to induce an emotional connection between the work and the viewer.
