The artwork “SPRAWL” is created to tell a visual story of my abstract interpretation of various disciplines of geography, as in the different state and conditions of a physical space man inhabit. The nine panel art piece seeks to invite viewers to pick or pinpoint a position(s) on the imaginary terrain mapped out and imagine what their lives and actions would be like if they live there. What life stories might evolve with the human connections they may form, cultural and social diversity they encounter, dilemmas perceived and experienced and at what price? Consider also as they examine the collage, how they will impact the surrounding physical landscape, the natural resources there and vice-versa. I hope that this exercise in imagery, imagination and story telling may challenge and inspire viewers to take a positive stance and do good as custodians and caretakers of our shared environment. I hope we all strive to leave this planet better and richer than we found it.
