Window on the Waterfront

Like lightning to ground, inspiration can strike at any moment in any place. Sometimes, it comes out of the cracks to find us, at other times we delve into the cracks to find it. This piece comes from the gray area between the two. My husband and I were driving through Holland one afternoon when lightning struck. I had to have him pull over. I had to take a picture of the scene which flashed briefly before my eyes. This piece stemmed from that photo - from that feeling which lunged at me through the dark and gripped me like the first rays of summer sun. This, my friends, is my ode to the waters of Holland. This, is Window to the Waterfront. *Black bars to the side of work art not part of painting.
