Altered Reflections Of Inner Perceptions

Dalia Ortega's avatar Dalia Ortega

My body of work uses altered landscapes to portray memories, emotions, and the essential thumbprint of people who have been part of my life. I enter each landscape and alter the natural look and feel of the surroundings in order to tell the individual story or memory that the location inspires in me. I approach each space differently and choose the object specific to each location. The stories and memories become a part of the surrounding area and become an expression of how I felt during those moments. Within my work I leave nature mostly untouched, especially after I leave the site and have finished. I work with natural light and landscapes because I perceive that throughout the chaos of the wild a natural order is present. This is important because the stories and memories I portray sometimes lack order. In my creative process I reflect upon the good, the bad, and the beautiful aspects of my memories and life experiences and how they have transformed me into the person I am today
