1246 AM 4'x8' MIXED MEDIA; oil, acrylic, recycled materials, found object, pencil, ink, charcoal, wax, sand, pigment, paper, photos, poured resin. Abstract Expressionism with concentrated collages and realistic imagery. The thick, translucent resin painting has to do with; the lost and forgotten treasures, found objects on the streets of Detroit and in my studio, North End Studios. People leave me things, I incorporate them into a composition. The movement in the piece is chaotic from far away but when up close you become engaged with the imagery and hidden gems tucked into the piece. You can become mesmerized by the need to find new things each time you look at the work. Detroit has been close to me for the last thirteen years as I attended CCS and am in their permanent collection, painted Murals in the neighborhood, worked in Charter Schools, co-founded North End Studios and engaged in community development. This painting was set on fire in a fit of emotion in my studio on E Grand Blvd.
