Pentimento is part of a series that expands on the idea of fragility. In this piece, I focus on the beauty and material qualities of the eggplants. By slicing them, I create an extremely thin layer so delicate that the viewer is able to activate the motion of the piece just by walking, or even breathing, near it. The ultimate goal of this piece is to situate the spectators between their curiosity as to how the material has been processed, and the fragility that keeps us away from the piece, as one can feel how easily it could break if touched. It is with the hidden process of this piece that I define Pentimento as a metaphor of our every day trials and tribulations. Even though I had these concepts in mind when making the piece, I think it is important that each individual experiences it in a personal way, much like we experience ourselves in nature.
