Creative Tension: A Mother-Daughter integration of abstract and design

Christine Towner Emily Otto

Our desire for this piece is to show the unique expression of drips, smears, curves, splashes combined with straight, geometric and repetitive elements. We believe as an abstractionist (mother) and designer (daughter) we will present to the viewer an art piece that conveys multiple levels of creative tension. With these two concepts juxtaposed with one another, the composition creates more analysis, intrique, and stimulation for the eye. In addition, the meduim being used is an ancient art form comprised of oil paint, wax and varnish (encaustic) . Spectacular luminous and textural layers will enhance the experience for the viewer.
