Twilight Time

The background of this tapestry is mohair yarn, embroidered over with other types of colored yarns. It took me several years to complete as it grew in size as the design was inspiring me as I worked. The original inspiration came from an old WWII song called Twilight Time that begins "Heavenly shades of night are falling..." I finished this piece in June of 2012, at the age of 96. It was Evelyn Lysette Sorenson's dream to enter her Tapestry in Art Prize and she realized that dream when her work was accepted by DeVos Place. She was absolutely thrilled and excited at the prospect of being able to come to this venue and see her work displayed. Unfortunately that part of the dream was not to be realized as Evelyn died peacefully at the age of 97 1/2 on May 24th, 2013. Her work is displayed here as a tribute to her great talent and her constant support of the arts and young artists, especially in her local community.
