VERDIGRIS (another word for patina)As we work on brass and other metals the more we study up on it. I love the vibrant coloring that happens to an unprotected metal over time. Nature's ever evolving beauty is the same way. Other inspriations for the flow, coloring and texture come from Pic's I took looking over the cliffs at Pictured Rock, as well as Schist rocks. Our piece is a abstract flow of blues and greens representing, patina metal, water and air (clouds). All that is the yellowish color in the pic above is the exposed brass. This piece is on recycled weather exposed sheets of brass. THE MEANING OF THE PAINTING IS THE DISCOVERY OF beauty that comes from being still or keeping to the same for a long time, like good habits. It can also be looked at the other way. Staying the same over time ugliness can be built up. But with forgiveness, change and gentle (and sometimes rough) rubbing, a new beauty is created.
