Architectural Wonders

Janet Dosenberry's avatar Janet Dosenberry

This piece is a culmination of artistic exploration. Many watercolor techniques were applied in the making of this work of art. Thisis no doubt one of the most challenging pieces I have ever done. It is a photo that I took of the Chicago skyline during the day from the 68th floor of a high rise condo. I enlarged my photo and used watercolor and acrylic paints on plastic paper which is better known as " yupo". This paper is extremely difficult to get any kind of paint to adhere to it , especially watercolor! It took a lot of time, patience and many layers of paint. Chicago is very near and dear to my soul, it is my birthplace, many memories were made here wiith my family........and sadly both my parents are gone so I had this strong desire and even a need to create something that stimulates my mind and nourishes my soul. I love the results of exploring with watermedia. This piece enabled me to communicate my thoughts, feeling, and ideas.
