Paradise is a concept familiar to every person, but it has a different meaning for everyone. Newmyer is painting a large-scale, realistic landscape based on his trip to the Hawaiian Islands earlier in 2012. The lookout to Kalalau Valley stands higher than 4,000 feet over the Pacific Ocean, opening to a jaw-dropping panorama of mountainous rainforest. National Geographic Magazine has twice hailed Kalalau Lookout as one of the world's best views. Kalalau receives more than 500,000 visitors every year. Under a tropical sun, you will find every color imaginable. Known as the "garden isle", Kauai's remarkable beauty has seduced Hollywood to film "Blue Hawaii", "Jurassic Park", "Avatar" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark". Many Americans have seen the sights of Kauai in the intro to the popular television show, "Fantasy Island". Newmyer will present an idealized vision of paradise that includes Hawaiian flower favorite: the hibiscus. This painting is part of a series inspired by the jungle.
