Through the Colorado Metalsmithing Association I was fortunate to take a class from a master in a technique called anticlastic raising.  This is a technique that dates back 3,000 years and was found around England, Ireland, and Scottland.  All pieces start as a flat sheet of metal and are hammered hundreds, even thousands of times, on stakes. Years ago the stakes were made from antlers today they are made with steel, wood and plastic. I have become engulfed with the technique, making jewelry, sculptures and constantly wanting to learn more and document my findings.
