Scrappie Dick

Paul Cassidy's avatar Paul Cassidy

Inspired by a friend, Scrappie Dick is made entirely out of scrap metal. The yellow irridescent electroplated steel was salvaged from old computer cabinets. The irridescence of the steel reflects different colors as the light and the angle of viewing change. This adds to his character and appears to put him in motion. Scrappie Dick sits on a base made from a Gas Station awning, the bowls of the water feature are air orifices from large fan units. Construction of the sculpture has taken just over a year to complete. Scrappie Dick is 19 feet, 4 inches long, with a weight of 1400 pounds. The base weight is 3500 pounds. I enjoy using salvaged materials and overcoming the challenges it creates. My ultimate goal is to create expression from junk! You can vote for Scrappie Dick using vote code 52362.
