The General Services Administration has had a long history of incorporating art into Federal Buildings. GSA commissions American artists to create publicly scaled and permanently installed artworks for Federal Buildings nationwide. The incorporation of contemporary art within the nation's important civic spaces celebrates the best of American culture and exemplifies how democratic societies benefit immeasurably from the unique, creative talents of individual citizens. Federal Buildings are public buildings, meant to be enjoyed and utilized by the people of this nation. ArtPrize presents a unique opportunity to encourage people to visit the Federal Building and stroll the grounds to view the artwork. On permanent display on the west lawn is the large sculpture Motu Viget by Mark DiSuvero.
