The Women’s City Club is a private club and offers individual and business memberships. The Sweet House Foundation(501 c 3) was established in 2006. Its purpose is to preserve and memorialize the history and architecture of the house where the Women's City Club resides. Martin Sweet, the original owner of the house, was a young entrepreneur when he came to Grand Rapids in 1846. He dreamed of a distinguished and spacious home for his family and in the early 1860’s he built his home on East Fulton. This Heritage Hill two-story Italianate Villa home survives as one of the remaining examples of this style of architecture in the latter part of the 19th century.
