Some of my most vivid memories are of taking photographs of my family and the world around me. I am a graphic designer, and have always enjoyed the outdoors. Photography combines my love of nature with searching for images with my camera. I photograph what appeals to me. It’s as simple as that. It may be the broad vista; or the details in the sand at my feet. It may be a scene from the created world – or an old vehicle abandoned in a field. Quite often recently, it’s the person in front of me. There are times when I am seeking out what to photograph, and others when opportunities grab me. The important thing to me is capturing an image in the most powerful way possible. Some awards include: LOMA award: Festival of the Arts; Director's Choice Award: Muskegon Museum of Art; Merit Award: B&W Magazine. You can find more of my work at www.chardonphotography.com, but the image of last year's entry, plus the portfolio shown here will give you a good idea of the type of work I do.
These are William's official ArtPrize entries from this year and past years.
