Description of exhibition space
The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts is Michigan’s largest contemporary arts center, featuring groundbreaking artwork that might not otherwise find a venue in Michigan. Our new LEED-certified building is located on the corner of Grand Rapids’ highest-traffic intersection and offers a variety of gallery spaces for ArtPrize 2011. As part of our ongoing commitment to promote challenging, innovative practices in the visual arts, UICA is seeking artwork that addresses contemporary issues and concerns, and/or work that pushes traditional boundaries in its treatment of materials or subject.
