Cornerstone Church is thrilled again this year to have the opportunity to participate in Artprize - one of the most fun, over-stimulating and inspiring events in one of the coolest, big-hearted cities in the world! We are a modern contemporary church in a historic building, blending a beautiful combination of past and present. Cornerstone Church is one of the fastest growing churches in the Downtown Grand Rapids area; launching services October 2013, with a diverse community that represents the community around us. We are located at the corner of Lafayette and Washington. Our historic building was built in 1904 and remains, architecturally-speaking, incredibly original. We are on the edge of Heritage Hill and downtown Grand Rapids. One block South of Fulton, off Lafayette, this is a great location for a walk by both historic homes and near all the energy of downtown. Stroll by and visit!
Grand Valley Artists have been West Michigan's premier artist's group since 1957 when it was started by several area artists such as Carl Forslund, Reynold Weidenaar, and Armand Merizon to name a few. GVA has always striven to create an environment for artists to learn, create, prosper, and to ultimately share their talents with the greater Grand Rapids area. This year is no exception. We have successfully sponsored the 53rd Reeds Lake Art Festival, a much loved art festival in West Michigan that includes artists from across the nation. GVA is, for the second year in a row, an ArtPrize venue, and is now located in the Water Treatment Building on 1101 N. Monroe NW, just south of Leonard Street. We have over 5,000 square feet of display space. We also plan to have our members inside and outside, painting, drawing, photographing and sketching during ArtPrize. This will show the public what we do as an art group and why Grand Rapids is quickly becoming one of the the Midwest's largest art communities. This year we also have one of the oldest participants in ArtPrize, Stuart Knickerbocker, a World War II veteran and local artist. We are proud to have him and 48 local and national artists displaying their work with us, most of whom will be on hand to answer questions and interact at various times with the public during ArtPrize.

Craft beer isn’t a section of the store for us . . . it’s what we are all about! We are a craft beer bottle shop with over 500 beers and a beer bar with 20 drafts, plus wine and spirits. We welcome our guests to build their own six packs, have a taste of something new on tap or a bit of both. We have a very small kitchen and serve up some great soft pretzels and hot dogs. We also have fun bar snacks: popcorn, chips, even ice cream bars! But if you're hungry for more, we have a collection of menus to choose from the Downtown Market. We are not snobs, we are beer geeks! We are students of our trade and take great pride in learning everything we can about beer; how it's made, what the ingredients are, what we should drink it from, what food a beer pairs well or can be made with. We are good beer, good people, and good times!

In addition, due to the large mezzanine, we can offer space to artists who have pieces that need to be suspended overhead. There is also display space available inside 2 large front glass windows on the left side of the main entry glass doors on Monroe Center. The dimensions for the windows are roughly 5' by 8' each. All pieces displayed at the Grand Rapids Police Department are chosen by our Art Committee, a team of dedicated volunteers. We look forward to what artists will do to take advantage of this space.

Small Post Office Boxes will make up this official venue located inside the United States Postal Service - Ledyard Station, 120 Monroe Center NW. PO (Art)Box is specializing in small artwork since scale is often a majority factor in ArtPrize entries. Curator Sierra Cole says, "We all know that ArtPrize is about having a conversation about art, we just feel that most of the time that conversation revolves around large scale works of art. We want to flip that conversation and talk about how small works of art are just as viable as large scale works. They are just as challenging, time consuming, and complex as their large counterparts." PO (Art)Box will be viewable during business hours inside the Post Office lobby. After hours, the artwork can be viewed from a custom made outdoor mailbox bank that will be located just outside the Ledyard Post Office. PO (Art)Box is curated by Sierra Cole, Todd Ramquist and is part of the Safety Harbor Art and Music Center Collective.
