Boardwalk Condominiums returns as a multi-artist venue for ArtPrize 10. A century old furniture factory building, Boardwalk is a community centerpiece of the bustling Monroe North District. This year, Boardwalk hosts "The Art of Renewal" - a thematic collection of ArtPrize entries inspired by the residential and commercial renaissance underway in the former industrial neighborhood.
'UICA Outside' draws together diverse artists and Grand Rapids stakeholders to create permanent artworks that are energizing and accessible to all. 'UICA Outside' expands UICA’s impact city-wide and connects visitors to the vibrant neighborhoods that surround downtown Grand Rapids. Each neighborhood will feature one or more large-scale work created by artists who reside and engage within their respective community, or who have designed artworks with neighborhood input and a focus on representation and expression after meetings with neighborhood associations and business owners, as well as community members and local artists.

Welcome! We are thrilled to be an ArtPrize venue for the first time! ArtPrize is the largest art competition in the world, and we are proud that it is right in our backyard here in Grand Rapids. Our venue sees 7-8,000 visitors a day just in passenger traffic, and we hope to see familiar faces stopping, but also the daily flow of people in and out of GRR who may be here on business or visiting loved ones. Our venue is hosting seven artists who are from as close as Ada, to as far away as Mexico and New Zealand! Art is located in three locations: outdoors under our "Welcome Wall" canopy, in the east end of our terminal building near the Valet Parking ticket counter, and upstairs in our Observation Area. This is also a great spot for aviation enthusiasts since you can view art, look down on our security checkpoint, and get a view of our airfield operations. Stop by and see us, and don't forget to vote for your favorite artists!!
Brush Studio is a beautiful open space typically used for instructional art classes. Brush has been using art as a form of entertainment and a way to connect all levels of artists.
SiTE:LAB is a nomadic all-volunteer artist-led initiative that has organized over 20 projects primarily in underutilized sites in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Project sites have included: An entire city block, an abandoned natural history museum, a nature preserve, vacant commercial buildings, and a once-grand downtown hotel. Gillett Bridge is not available as a venue during the connections process. Gillett Bridge is a pedestrian walkway that spans the Grand River in Downtown Grand Rapids. The bridge connects the two landmarks, the Gerald R. Ford Museum and DeVos Place. It is heavily travelled during ArtPrize and offers wonderful views of the river and city.
The early Christian church was one of the greatest patrons of the arts, so we believe that it is natural that today both artists and observers find the church as home to the arts and a place to hear God’s voice through artistic expression. For 43 years, First United Methodist Church has presented its annual "Celebration of the Arts", one of the largest juried spiritual art shows in the U.S. Works have included artists from many faith and spiritual traditions.
The Grand Rapids Children's Museum provides an environment for hands-on, self-guided, learning through play.
We offer space inside the Grand Rapids Police Department, as a gallery environment. We are able to host both 2D and 3D works. In addition, due to the large mezzanine, we can offer space to artists who have pieces that need to be suspended overhead. There is also display space available inside 2 large front glass windows on the left side of the main entry glass doors on Monroe Center. The dimensions for the windows are roughly 5' by 8' each. All pieces displayed at the Grand Rapids Police Department are chosen by our Art Committee, a team of dedicated volunteers. We look forward to what artists will do to take advantage of this space.

[HAS HEART] is proud to present the 2018 HERO[series] exhibit at the Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Grand Rapids, marking the organization's 7th annual ArtPrize exhibit.
The GRPM has a prime location, in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, situated on the banks of the Grand River. This location, accessible and walkable from many other ArtPrize venues, makes it a key destination on the downtown pathway of ArtPrize art. The GRPM will host an outdoor exhibition by curating a rewarding experience with approachable art that is intriguing, distinctive and engages the viewer’s capacity for awe, curiosity and humor. With our unique setting along the busy river walkway, we are able to offer a not-to-be-missed immersive experience worthy of our fortunate location. The GRPM will offer outdoor art, as well as dynamic Museum exhibitions that will intrigue and draw visitors to this location.

The Mitten Brewing Company is a vintage baseball-themed microbrewery and pizzeria located in historic Engine House No. 9, a Victorian-era firehouse and Grand Rapids landmark. Since opening in October 2012, they've become known for their classic style beers with a twist and gourmet pizzas made with the finest ingredients available. Recently they were honored with a silver medal for their "Triple Crown Brown" from the 2016 World Beer Cup! The cement floors still show signs of 19th century horse stalls and the original exterior lanterns hint at the antique décor within. The lobby and dining room house vintage baseball memorabilia and you can even sit in the original Tiger Stadium seats while you wait for a table. The Mitten is also vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free friendly, and all menu items can be changed to meet your dietary requests. So stop on by, have a beer, and enjoy our unique atmosphere featuring many wonderful ArtPrize artists!
The venue is in the historic Sweet House which is transformed for ArtPrize. While the main floor retains its historic look, but with the installation of AP art, the Auditorium is converted to a modern gallery with the addition of contemporary walls and lighting. In 2006, the Sweet House Foundation, a (501 c 3) non-profit, was established to preserve the history and architecture of the house. Martin Sweet, the original owner of the house, was a young entrepreneur when he came to Grand Rapids in 1846. He dreamed of a distinguished and spacious home for his family and in the early 1860’s built this home on the corner of Fulton and Lafayette. This Heritage Hill two-story Italianate Villa home survives as one of the remaining examples of this style of architecture in the latter part of the 19th century.

The Acton Building, home to The Acton Institute (www.acton.org) and West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology (www.wmcat.org) is a historic building that has recently been renovated and restored to emulate its original exterior design. Originally built in 1929 and known as the Watson Building, the brand new Acton building features a beautifully restored exterior, and the interior showcases restored hardwood floors, original wood beams and posts, with exposed wooden rafters and support beams. This building at the corner of Sheldon and Fulton is one of Grand Rapids most visible and beautiful historic buildings. Attention to detail, and an architectural faithfulness to the original design were paramount in this new remodeling.
424 S. Division is currently a vacant lot situated between Wealthy & Division, two of the most heavily utilized streets in Grand Rapids. This specific intersection acts as a connection point from the growing Downtown area to the unique residential neighborhoods that make Grand Rapids so special. Sitting at the crossroads of the Heartside Neighborhood, Heritage Hill Neighborhood, and the Southeast Community, 424 S Division is a blank canvas for Artprize artists and future uses alike!
