Harmony Hall started off as a sausage factory in 1908, then later in the ‘60s it became Little Mexico, a restaurant the VanDyke family loved back in the day. Thus, Harmony Hall opened in 2015 with an expanded ten-barrel system and five large fermentation tanks. They hit the ground running with 30 beers on tap, including some great lagers to celebrate the German heritage of the building. Much of the original Bavarian architecture and Mexican relief murals were preserved in homage to the past occupants. The whimsical decor was inspired to life by the infamous Jack-of-the-Woods spirit muse—his leafy visage always giving thoughtful and quiet approval to Harmony’s creations.

Welcome! We are thrilled to be an ArtPrize venue for the first time! ArtPrize is the largest art competition in the world, and we are proud that it is right in our backyard here in Grand Rapids. Our venue sees 7-8,000 visitors a day just in passenger traffic, and we hope to see familiar faces stopping, but also the daily flow of people in and out of GRR who may be here on business or visiting loved ones. Our venue is hosting seven artists who are from as close as Ada, to as far away as Mexico and New Zealand! Art is located in three locations: outdoors under our "Welcome Wall" canopy, in the east end of our terminal building near the Valet Parking ticket counter, and upstairs in our Observation Area. This is also a great spot for aviation enthusiasts since you can view art, look down on our security checkpoint, and get a view of our airfield operations. Stop by and see us, and don't forget to vote for your favorite artists!!

Grand Valley Artists have been West Michigan's premier artist's group since 1957 when it was started by several area artists such as Carl Forslund, Reynold Weidenaar, and Armand Merizon to name a few. GVA has always striven to create an environment for artists to learn, create, prosper, and to ultimately share their talents with the greater Grand Rapids area. This year is no exception. We have successfully sponsored the 53rd Reeds Lake Art Festival, a much loved art festival in West Michigan that includes artists from across the nation. GVA is, for the second year in a row, an ArtPrize venue, and is now located in the Water Treatment Building on 1101 N. Monroe NW, just south of Leonard Street. We have over 5,000 square feet of display space. We also plan to have our members inside and outside, painting, drawing, photographing and sketching during ArtPrize. This will show the public what we do as an art group and why Grand Rapids is quickly becoming one of the the Midwest's largest art communities. This year we also have one of the oldest participants in ArtPrize, Stuart Knickerbocker, a World War II veteran and local artist. We are proud to have him and 48 local and national artists displaying their work with us, most of whom will be on hand to answer questions and interact at various times with the public during ArtPrize.

The early Christian church was one of the greatest patrons of the arts, so we believe that it is natural that today both artists and observers find the church as home to the arts and a place to hear God’s voice through artistic expression. For 43 years, First United Methodist Church has presented its annual "Celebration of the Arts", one of the largest juried spiritual art shows in the U.S. Works have included artists from many faith and spiritual traditions.
