La Senora Fria

2012 ArtPrize Entry
Add to Collection

I have always noticed shapes first. This vision is seen from my first drawings as a child to the art I created yesterday. I nurture these forms I create into existence, making the most of every moment of the process. The experimentation is very rewarding as every form slowly becomes its self. I use hand tools only, this takes longer but keeps me as close to my work as I can get. I watch how my art is effected by light, shadows, its environment. La Senora Fria is a marble sculpture that is cold because of the marble her abstract portrait is made of is cold not because she is a cold lady. The sculpture is 12'' x 11'' x 7'' she wears her mantilla over her head and shoulders hiding her hair from view. The lady seems to be looking up at something we can not see. Her mind is somewhere else and she is not sharing with us where.
