Lizzie B. is an art quilt created in the traditional 19th century "Crazy Quilt" pattern. Pieces of fabric are added in seemingly random patterns. The work is further embellished with a wide selection of fancy embroidery, charms and trim. Given the challenge of making a "crazy" quilt, it only seemed natural to me to place Lizzie Bordon, arguably one of the craziest 19th century figures, to the center of the piece. The piece works together to evoke a feeling of a 19th century keepsake while creating a work that is fun and humorous, irreverent but not disrespectful.

Venue & Connection Information

This work hangs from a horizontal pole inserted into the back of the piece. It is very lightweight to hang. I would prefer that it is placed where patrons aren't tempted to touch it since it features charms and trim.
