Have you ever joined in on President Bashing when “your guy” isn’t the one in office? I’ve done it, and it didn’t seem to accomplish much but get me into an argument with someone who I wasn’t aware held such deep political opinions. The truth is, I hardly ever do it just for that reason, but what I have done regularly is bash friends, family and myself. Boy and His Dream is a painting that went through several major changes beginning as an exploration of a photo I saw of President Bush staring out the window of Marine One while flying over the capital. The expression reminded me of a little boy trapped in an adult’s dream for power and the boy feeling completely separated from his true source of life and vitality. As I worked on the painting, I quickly realized that it was about me and how I had been lost deep in the woods of my own dream. When I look back at the changes I had made to the painting, it shows me insights into the process of healing my own inner pain.
