I enjoy woodworking as a creative outlet. I grew up spending time outdoors and I draw inspiration from nature. Woodturning allows me to use wood that would otherwise be left to decay or be used as firewood. Wood that is undesirable to traditional woodworking, such as wood containing bark, twisted grain or knots can produce spectacular woodturnings. I typically add to a turned object with surface enhancements. This includes carving, woodburning, painting, dyes and texturing. I have shown turned art at the following locations or events: Grand Rapids Art Museum, Festival of the Arts-Regional Arts Exhibition (Grand Rapids), Muskegon Museum of Art – Regional Exhibition, Lowell Area Arts Council, Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Carnegie Center for the Arts, Studio 23/Fine Arts Center - Rings of Inspiration (Bay City).
