2012 ArtPrize EntryEach panel represents a stage of life; childhood, midlife, near death, and death. The panels overlap. The charcoal drawing, aka "The Meloncholy Man", is a portrait of a man with a Soviet Union and American flag draped over his head. There is a mushroom cloud over his left shoulder. The loop video is approximately 2 hours long. It explains the painting and charcoal. Its composed of a 4 1/2 minute segment which repeats. The repetition is ordinary day to day life. it is interrupted with 24 very different 30 second spots representing the other parts of life.
