“Our President” Gerald R. Ford is the third presidential sculpture that the artist has created. The first, George Washington, was crafted in 1998. The second, Abraham Lincoln, was sculpted in 2009. Fabricating a human face from 1/4" plate steel has particular limitations in the accentuation of features and determining the final outcome. Additionally, the positioning and 12 ft height and 10 ft width, requires a great deal of inner strength. For us “Michiganders”, Gerald R. Ford is our hometown hero as the only Michigan president. He is remembered as a kind and gentle man that accepted responsibility and led our country through a very challenging time with dignity and character. The goal of the artist is to create a sculpture, from a very difficult medium, that honors President Ford’s memory.

Venue & Connection Information

This is an outdoor exihibit. It is "weather proof" and will be placed in location with a crane. Pictures are of the art work in progress. The final sculpture is gold in color.
