I enjoy anything and everything that takes me outside. If we aren't working in the woodshop my family will likely be on a river someplace in our canoe, or kayaks. My first real experience in the arts was in the field of Husbandry. From the diary of Ennuye by Anna Brownell "The style of husbandry is exquisitely neat, and in general performed by manual labor." As a husband and father I am learning to be exquisitely neat and it takes a great deal of manual labor to accomplish this. Woodworking parallels this in so many ways. The sheer time and physical energy it takes to turn a raw piece of nature into something handcrafted and beautiful is astonishing. I enjoy the challenge of it and like marriage we never stop learning.
