Transformation
This painting, Transformation, has become a piece that, for me, symbolizes the transitions we go through in our inner growth cycles. Using visual metaphor, it is a translation of 'new beginnings' or a time of rebirth, much like the butterfly born from its cocoon, using the strength of spirit and will we hold within to reflect and move forward. When I work, my paintings tend to develop a life of their own, in a sense finding their own path on what the outcome will be. Using a variety of tools and techniques, I usually have a visual sense of what I want to see happen in the process and as a final result, but it tends to end up being what the painting wants to be. Whether through happy accidents, experimentation, or some inner guided force within me, the outcome becomes a bit of a revelation of the journey my spirit is on.
