Created out of a vision of collaboration and unity by artist Suzi Furtwangler , Noah’s Ark is a six panel crayon mosaic of the Bible story. Six schools and parishes have come together to complete this 4’ by 12’ piece. The project was awarded a grant through the Grand Rapids Community Foundation on the basis of both its artistic merit and the fact that it is a multigenerational community project. Ages 3 through 90 are working together to independently complete their 2’ by 4’ panel in schools and parishes. Gaunt Industries generously donated 50 bottles of glue. Thousands of crayons have been donated by each community, and many hands have peeled labels from the 30,000+ crayons and broke them into pieces. Hundreds of hands big and small, young and old will glue crayons onto the design. This collaborative effort will be a reminder to all of what Catholic schools can accomplish when we all work together as one body in Christ.
