Eye Contact
2012 ArtPrize EntryThis piece consists of 3 steel frames with a matched pair of glass rondels on each side. These frames rotate about their central support axis and move with the wind. Only occasionally will they line up and face one another. This demonstrates how external forces such as daily obligations, flickering screens and our shiny communication devices keep us from truly seeing one another and real human contact.

Venue & Connection Information
This piece would work best where it is protected from visitors touching it while still being able to view it closely. Each glass rondel is 16 to 18 inches across. The 3 frames are 8 feet long and are 8 to 9 feet off the ground. Huge thanks to John Umlauf who did the metal fabrication.
