I started as a traditional quilter over 25 years ago. Not wanting to follow someone else’s pattern, I soon began planning my own quilts, enjoying the greater freedom of design. Within one year, my focus turned to art quilts. I now create my own hand-dyed fabric and use painting, screening, mono-printing, threads, and other surface design elements that the piece demands. My work has been juried into art shows nationally and internationally, and I have taught art quilting at local shops and guilds. I have also worked extensively in paper collage and mixed media. My work is inspired by nature, and I believe the tactile nature of fabric makes this medium ideal for rendering landscapes and natural scenery. In my art, I try to convey a sense of peace and serenity, and I hope the viewer will step into that moment, at least momentarily letting go of the demands of daily life.
