Sleeping Bear Dunes

2012 ArtPrize Entry
Add to Collection

Many of my paintings originate from the landscapes of family vacations, as our travels tend to take us to serene and awe-inspiring locations. This painting was no different. With my son’s wedding at Glen Lake a day away, we took a family hike up Sleeping Bear Dunes, breaking through the thick forest of pines, with the lakeshore just in front of us, right at sunset. It was a gorgeous scene, a beautiful memory, and a moment asking to be caught up, painted, and revived again and again. Mother Nature inspires wonder in all of us, and this painting captures a hint of what our world offers.
