Sleeping Bear Dunes
2012 ArtPrize EntryMany of my paintings originate from the landscapes of family vacations, as our travels tend to take us to serene and awe-inspiring locations. This painting was no different. With my son’s wedding at Glen Lake a day away, we took a family hike up Sleeping Bear Dunes, breaking through the thick forest of pines, with the lakeshore just in front of us, right at sunset. It was a gorgeous scene, a beautiful memory, and a moment asking to be caught up, painted, and revived again and again. Mother Nature inspires wonder in all of us, and this painting captures a hint of what our world offers.
