Byron Center, MI, United States

I, Mr. Sharon Schut, 88, with an 8th grade education in a one room school house, spent most of my adult life in the building trade. I started building homes in the Hudsonville and Jenison area. In 1995, with my wife bedridden, I needed a hobby close to home so I started building 1/4 scale miniature buildings. Some of my first projects included barns and dollhouses for the grandchildren. For my first major project, I built my homestead, which included my house, barn, chicken coops, and outhouse. As I have continued to build models I possess many unique pieces in my collection. These include a round barn, an old church, bridges, a working gristmill, the DeZwaan Holland windmill, and a water pump sawmill. I now entertain friends and social groups in my 30 foot, 2 story round barn, which displays my 35 plus exhibits.
