Working on my own or with others, I’ve created over 30 large-scale public artworks and completed artwork for three stations along the new Green Line LRT system connecting St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN. I’ve been awarded a Loeb Fellowship in the Harvard Graduate School of Design. He was millennium artist-in-residence for 651 Arts, in Brooklyn, NY and was the City of Minneapolis’ first Artist-in-Residence. I have a BS in Landscape and a MLS in Environmental History. A 2013 Joyce Award, from Chicago’s Joyce Foundation allowed me to develop CREATE: The Community Meal, a dinner for 2000 people at a table ½ mile long that focused on access to healthy food. In addition, I’ve been working with my neighbors to create a 5-acre farm in a new city park in Frogtown, St. Paul. In 2016 I was awarded a $50,000 Forecast McKnight Public Art Grant to design and build a floating sculptural installation (boat) to act as a research vessel for the Mississippi River. I teach Urban Food Systems at the University of Minnesota and is on the faculty of Goddard College in Port Townsend, WA.
