Riverside Park Reflections
2012 ArtPrize EntryMichigan is a beautiful place to be in the fall. As a photographer, it is hard to resist grabbing the camera on a sunny afternoon when the colors are at their peak. I was in Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan one warm October day in 2011 when I noticed how the stillness of the pond created a fantastic reflection. When I uploaded the image to my "digital darkroom," I played with the reflection concept further creating interesting geometric patterns between the mirrored images. My goal is to create a recognizable image that is pleasing at first glance with color and composition that creates further interest when examined closely because of the patterns created by the reflections and mirroring of the images.
