2013 ArtPrize Entry

An oil painting of a Zebra, as it may appear in a coloring book. It appears to have been colored somewhat erratically by what could easily have been a child, possibly the owner of the book. I work with children, and once in a while one of them will color, (or draw) a picture that is both simple and beautiful. When this happens, I'm amazed by the ease with which they go about it. It's like capturing the essence of something comes naturally to them, like maybe they see things a little differently at that age. That's what I want to try and convey here, and this was the first piece I did in this style.
